A Message from Megan Jones (Team silver medal at Beijing Olympics)
Welcome!
All our horses are kitted out in quality saddles and equipment from Bonnetts Saddleworld to make your ride safe and comfortable. We want to make your whole experience of learning to ride fun, safe and educational.
The workshops let you get your hands dirty and really feel what it’s like to own your own horse for a day.
I have been teaching and coaching over 20 years now and I have a passion for it.
I now coach competition riders, but I still have a passion for seeing children and adults learning the wonders of riding a horse and the amazing feeling you get when you connect with another animal. This is why I decided to open the gates to Kirby Park and my rider training system so everyone could feel what it is like to ride and connect with a horse.
Megan Jones Riding School
The Megan Jones Riding School offers a range of horse riding lessons given by qualified and experienced horse riding instructors led by South Australian Olympic Silver Medallist, Megan Jones.
We are in the Adelaide Hills at beautiful Hahndorf, less than 30 minutes up the freeway from Adelaide CBD.
The Riding School is part of the 100 acre training facility and horse breeding stud – Kirby Park Stud.
We have a large team of gorgeous horses and ponies which will suit all levels of rider from beginner to advanced riders.
Our qualified horse riding instructors will find a horse or pony which is perfectly matched to your riding experience. Beginners especially are sure to fall in love with their horses soon after they get to know each other!
We want you to be confident and relaxed with your horse so that your riding lessons will give you the best chance to learn to ride quickly, improve your riding skills and gain confidence on horseback.
Remember, our team of horses are experienced and well educated as school mounts and are handpicked for their gentle nature and rideability.
Of course if you have your own horse and would like to ride with an instructor or trainer, we can accommodate you.
If you have never ridden a horse before or if you want to get back on horseback after a break or even if you are an experienced rider wanting to improve your horse riding skills or begin your dressage or jumping training – it is time to pull on your riding boots, get in the saddle and take the reins!

The Horses at Megan Jones Riding School
Duke: 16.1hh 10 year old brown gelding, Duke is a well educated dressage mount, competed up to Elementary, trained to Medium level with a lovely temperament and a rocking chair canter.
Dee Dee: 20 years old, bay mare 16hh she loves teaching people to become capable riders and is an especially great teacher for jumping. She has been a riding school mistress for many years and loves her job.
Duchess: 17 year old Grey 11hh mare. Previously a children’s pony club mount used for all disciplines and now part of the grey pony brigade here at Kirby Park. She may be pint sized but she still keeps up with the group so don’t let those short legs fool you, those legs can trot!
Nymph: Dark brown 18 year old mare 15.1hh. Previously a successful pre-novice eventing horse she is now a solid member of the MJET School Team. She is a soft and responsive ride and a bold and honest jumper.
Ben: 18 years old, flea bitten grey gelding 16.1hh. Has previously done pre-novice eventing and is a fantastic horse to learn to jump on. Don’t let the size deter you, he really is a true gentle giant.
Missy:18 year old chestnut mare 14.3hh, previously evented to level 1* and is one of our most trust worthy school mounts. Whether you are 8 or 80 this mare will take care of you and teach you all the fundamentals of being a ‘rider’.
Fancy: 8 year old 12.2hh grey mare. A true mothers dream! This is a pony who is truly one of a kind. She is safe and comfortable with the smoothest trot on any pony I’ve seen. A fantastic pony to learn to ride bare back and safe out on the trail.
Big Rusty: 14 year old 16.2hh Chestnut gelding. One of the sweetest horses on the planet, is a very forgiving and truely kind horse.
Kenny:13.3hh True Black gelding 15 year old. A versatile pony who has done it all, pony club, hacking, show jumping and eventing, and has now joined our school. A forward moving pony who loves to jump and is a great step between pony and horse.
Vinnie: 14hh 23 year old chestnut gelding. Previously owned by Grace Bowmen (Paralympian) who used him for pony club. He is one of MJET’s super star school horses as he is easy to stop, start AND steer! A real beginners dream and loves attention.
Little Rusty: 15hh 19yo chestnut gelding. Previously evented to pre novice and is now a irreplaceable member of the MJET Riding School. A fantastic ride for any discipline and a great mount to learn to jump on.
Flicka: 13hh 20 year old grey mare. Another new member to the grey pony brigade, Flicka is a lovely (very round!) and responsive, soft mouthed pony that is a fantastic for your first canter.
